Where did the summer
go?
It’s hard to believe that it is
September already.
I hope that your gardens and
trees survived the earthquake and
Hurricane Irene.
We will have a lot of catching up
when we see each other at our next
meeting.
Speaking of catch up,
we enjoyed a productive and fun summer.
Our annual potluck luncheon at
Annmarie Gardens was a big success.
Most of us had time to walk
around the garden and see the Fairy and
Gnome houses constructed by local
artists.
What a tribute to their
creativity!
In July, Kay Parris
hosted an optional Hypertufa Workshop.
Unfortunately,
I could not attend but I understand some
very unusual and pretty pots were
created.
Now that our members have learned
these techniques, Kay will host another
workshop in October when the weather
will be more pleasant.
We will select the date at our
next meeting.
Please join me in thanking Kay
for her hospitality and knowledge.
Also in July, Dorrie, JoEllen and
Patti attended the
Maddening Mechanics Workshop.
We look forward to
their sharing these valuable tips.
Only one of us participated in
the
Art Blooms at Annmarie Gardens
show at the end of July.
My husband was an unwilling but
cheerful assistant floral designer as I
struggled to complete my very simple
arrangement.
Somehow it worked!
The show was excellent and I urge
our members to continue to contribute to
this worthwhile event.
Our next big opportunity for fun
and service comes in October when the
Central Atlantic Region holds its
meeting.
The Federated Garden Clubs of
Maryland will host this event and is
seeking volunteers to help with the
activities.
We will discuss this meeting and
give further details at our next
meeting.
I look forward to
seeing everyone soon.
Happy Gardening and
Happy Fall!
